SECTION 1: OBJECTIVE


1.1 OBJECTIVE

Be the first player to achieve your ball race.


SECTION 2: LAG


2.1 LAG
  • Winner of the lag must break.
  • All standard 9-ball and 10-ball lag rules apply.


SECTION 3: THE RACK & BREAK


3.1 THE RACK & BREAK
  • Rack royal can be played with a 10-ball rack or 9-ball rack. 

  • 1-ball at the apex. The rack pattern should follow standard napa 10-ball and 9-ball racks.  

  • In the 9-ball format the 9-ball is considered the “royal ball”. 

  • in the 10-ball format the 10-ball is considered the “royal ball”. 

  • The breaker gets "1 ball made” for every ball made on the break, with the exception of the “royal ball”. The “royal ball” must spot immediately if made on the break and does not count as a ball made. 

  • If the breaker fouls on the break, any balls made are considered dead balls and do not count as balls made. 

  • Push is not allowed after the break. 

  • Safety down is not allowed. 

  • Defensive shots are allowed. 

  • Foul on the break is ball in hand anywhere on the table. 

  • League Operator has the option to make Rack Royal loser racks after each game or winner racks after each game. 


SECTION 4: MATCH PLAY


4.1 MATCH PLAY
  • Rack royal can be played with a 10-ball rack or 9-ball rack.

SECTION 5: FOULS


5.1 FOULS
  • Scratches, interference, balls off table, fouls on the break result in ball in hand anywhere on the table. 

  • If you foul during your shot all balls pockets do not count and are considered dead balls and can not be scored as balls made. 

  • All other NAPA standard rotation foul rules apply. 

    • If you are playing “Rack Royal 9” then all other NAPA standard 9-ball fouls apply.

    • If you are playing “Rack Royal 10” then all other NAPA  standard 10-ball fouls apply.


SECTION 6: SCORING


6.1 SCORING

WINNING PLAYER POINTS

  • SHUTOUT OPPONENT = 20 POINTS
  • WON RACE. OPPONENT MADE AT LEAST ONE BALL = 14 POINTS
  • EACH RACK ROYAL = 2 POINTS
  • EACH TABLE RUN = 1 POINT

LOSING PLAYER POINTS

  • MADE IT TO THE HILL. ONE BALL AWAY FROM WINNING = 4 POINTS
  • LOST MATCH WITH AT LEAST ONE BALL MADE = 3 POINTS
  • EACH RACK ROYAL = 2 POINTS
  • EACH TABLE RUN = 1 POINT
  • LOST MATCH WITH ZERO BALLS MADE = 1 POINT
  • EACH LEVEL ACHIEVED = 1 POINT EACH

HOW TO ACHIEVE A RACK ROYAL BONUS

  • ACHIEVE A TABLE RUN + BANK (OR KICK) THE ROYAL BALL FOR THE WIN.
  • BONUS: 2 RACK ROYAL BONUS POINTS + 1 TABLE RUN BONUS POINT + 2 EXTRA BALLS MADE ON SCORE SHEET
