TOUR EXPLAINED
TOUR STOPS OVERVIEW
The North American Poolshooters Tour is a set of NAPA sanctioned tour stops containing sanctioned tournaments in multiple game formats held throughout the United States and Canada between January 1st and October 8th of each calendar year. The Poolshooters Tour is currently the largest and most active billiard tour in North America. Tour stop tournaments consist of Open 8-ball, Open 9-ball, Open 10-ball, Ladies 8-ball, Ladies 9-ball and Open Lagger's Choice.

Players can accumulate tour points for every singles tour stop they enter and participate in. Tour Points can be worth prize money.

OPEN vs. LADIES
There are two event types that make up the Poolshooters Tour.
  1. NAPA Poolshooters Tour (all open events)
  2. NAPA Ladies Tour (all ladies only events)
NAPA Poolshooters Tour events are open to both male and female NAPA players. The NAPA Ladies Tour events are strictly for female NAPA players. Each tournament in a tour stop is a qualifier for the annual NAPA International Championships.

TOUR STOP FORMAT
The tournaments in the Poolshooters Tour are unique and different from any other billiard tournaments you may be used to. The tournaments are designed to group players into four brackets based on their NAPA CueSpeed Rating.

Brackets are labeled as follows:

+ Group 1
+ Group 2
+ Group 3
+ Group 4

All players are split evenly into these four groups based on CueSpeed Rating from highest to lowest starting with Group 1. This creates a balanced, bracketted field for the tournament.

In the event there are less than 16 players, only one bracket will be used.

In each group, at the beginning of each tournament, the players are randomly drawn for placement in each of their individual groups.

Each group is played as a true double elimination bracket until the end. The winner of each group will advance into a single elimination final-four bracket. The four finalists are placed in the final-four bracket by order of CueSpeed Rating with the winner of Group 1 playing the opening round against the winner of Group 2 and the winner of Group 3 playing the opening round against the winner of Group 4. The final-four bracket is a single elimination "bronze match" tournament. The winners in the first round of the final-four advance to the championship match. The losers in the first round of the final-four advance to a bronze match in which the winner will take 3rd place and the loser will take 4th place.

ENTRY FEES
There are three components to the player entry fees. All entry fees must be paid in cash on site during check-in.
  1. The Player's NRP
    1. Each player has an established NAPA NRP. The NAPA Rewards Program is explained on the NAPA website on the Official NRP Page.
    2. The NRP Fees are based on how many matches a player plays in their NAPA local leagues.
  2. Tournament Direction Fees
    1. These fees go to NAPA HQ and the NAPA Tournament Director to cover expenses and man-power to run the event.
  3. Greens Fee
    1. These fees go directly to the venue owner for hosting the events.

ELIGIBILITY
  1. Any NAPA player who has a NAPA NRP of five (5) or more in the 365 days prior to the start of an event is automatically eligible to play in a tour stop, unless otherwise noted or announced.
  2. A participant's place of residence does not matter and has no effect on their ability to participate at any of the tour stops throughout North America. For example: A participant living in Virginia is allowed to participate in the Florida State Championships and vice versa.
  3. Participants who are already qualified for the annual NAPA International Championships are still allowed to participate in any tour stop of their liking after qualifying. Being already qualified does not prevent a participant's entry into a tournament or event.
  4. Any NAPA player who is banned or suspended is prohibited from participating in any tournament of any tour event.
  5. Any NAPA player who owes NAPA match dues to their local league operator is prohibited from participating in any tournament of any tour event.
  6. Proof of Identification may be required at check-in for participants. Non-expired driver's license, state issued ID or passport will be required if asked for proof by a tournament official.

PRE-REGISTRATION
All players are encouraged to pre-register for their desired event on the NAPA main website. Pre-registration is free. Failure to pre-register will result in a late fee at check-in.

CHECK-IN
Check-in is required and is always one hour before the start of each tournament of an event. Failure to check-in will forfeit the player from the event. During check-in players may be required to show proof of Identification. All entry fees must be paid in cash.

PLAYER CUESPEED RATINGS
The NAPA CueSpeed Rating that a player enters into a tournament at will remain his or her CueSpeed Rating until the end of the tournament. Every tournament match a NAPA player participates in is recorded in the national database and counts towards their NAPA CueSpeed Rating in that particular game format after the tournament is completed.

PRIZE PAYOUT FIELD
It is NAPA policy that 20% to 25% of the participating field receives prize money at all NAPA events.

PRIZE MONEY
Prize money is paid out after each tournament to all players who have placed in the prize payout field. Prize money for each tour stop is generally between $3,000 and $30,000. Prize money for each tournament at each tour stop is based on total participation.

TROPHIES
Trophies are awarded to the final-four players. In some cases runner-up in each class also receives an award.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. All participants who win at least one match in the "Open" 8-ball tournament of a tour stop qualify for the annual NAPA International "Open" 8-ball Championships. In short...don't go "two and out".
  2. All participants who win at least one match in the "Open" 9-ball tournament of a tour stop qualify for the annual NAPA International "Open" 9-ball Championships. In short...don't go "two and out".
  3. All participants who win at least one match in the "Open" 10-ball tournament of a tour stop qualify for the annual NAPA International "Open" 10-ball Championships. In short...don't go "two and out".
  4. All participants who win at least one match in the "Ladies" 8-ball tournament of a tour stop qualify for the annual NAPA International "Ladies" 8-ball Championships. In short...don't go "two and out".
  5. All participants who win at least one match in the "Ladies" 9-ball tournament of a tour stop qualify for the annual NAPA International "Ladies" 9-ball Championships. In short...don't go "two and out".
* In addition to the above items, each player must maintain their qualification by the following:
  1. Maintain a NAPA NRP of 10 or more leading up to the International Championships.

PROGRESSIVE PRIZE POOL
The Progressive Prize Pool is a separate prize pool that accumulates throughout the tour season and is paid to the top tour point earners at the very end of the season.

TOUR POINTS
* All tour points are accumulated between January 1st and October 1st of each calendar year. Tour points for all players are reset back to zero (0) on December 31st of each year.
ENTER A NAPA TOUR TOURNAMENT 4.0 points.
PLACE 1ST IN A NAPA TOUR TOURNAMENT 2.0 points.
PLACE 2ND IN A NAPA TOUR TOURNAMENT 1.75 points.
PLACE 3RD IN A NAPA TOUR TOURNAMENT 1.50 points.
PLACE 4TH IN A NAPA TOUR TOURNAMENT 1.25 points.
FINISH RUNNER-UP IN YOUR CLASS BRACKET (OR IN 5TH PLACE) 0.5 point. (half point)
WIN AT LEAST TWO MATCHES IN A NAPA TOUR TOURNAMENT 0.5 point. (half point)
WIN AT LEAST ONE MATCH IN A NAPA TOUR TOURNAMENT 0.5 point. (half point)
PRIZE POOL The NAPA Tour prize pool is progressive. NAPA HQ starts the progressive prize with $1,000 (USD). After each NAPA Tour tournament NAPA HQ will add more money into the progressive prize pool based on the participation of the tournament.
WINNERS The top four players with the most tour points at the end of the NAPA Tour season will share 100% of the progressive prize pool with 1st place receiving 40%, 2nd place receiving 30%, 3rd place receiving 20% and 4th place receiving 10%.
AWARDS The Progressive prize pool and awards will be paid to the top four players at the end of the NAPA Tour season during the NAPA Internationals Championship. Player presence is not necessary as NAPA HQ will mail any prize money and awards owed to it's recipient.

LADIES TOUR POINTS

The NAPA Ladies Points are additional prize points for NAPA female players only. All NAPA Lady players can earn tour points for each open singles tour stop they enter, just like on the national Poolshooters Tour.

Ladies Tour Points are calculated separately from the Poolshooters Tour Points as additional tour points.

When a female NAPA player participates in a tour stop they get points for both the Poolshooters Tour Points as well as the Ladies Tour Points.

Beginning January 01, 2026:

  1. Any time a lady player plays in an "open" event, if there is not a Ladies tournament being held at the event, the "open" points will also count towards Open Points as well as the Ladies Points. If there is a ladies tournament at the event, then only the ladies tournaments will count towards Ladies Tour Points.
 

REGIONAL TOUR POINTS

The TexLa, Carolinas, and South East Tour Points are additional prize pools for NAPA players. For each of these regional groups, NAPA players can earn regional tour points for each singles tour stop they enter in these groups, just like on the national Poolshooters Tour.

Each region encompasses certain states, as outlined below.

  • TexLa Tour Points
    • Texas
    • Louisiana
  • Carolinas Tour Points
    • North Carolina
    • South Carolina
  • South East Tour Points
    • Florida
    • Georgia
    • Alabama

  • All Regional Tour Points are calculated and accumulated for tour stops that take place in each of the regional locations.
    For example: A tour stop in Texas will count towards the TexLa Tour Points and not the Carolinas Tour Points.
  • The Regional Tour Points are calculated and accumulated in addition to the Poolshooters Tour Points.
  • Players can earn Poolshooters Tour Points as well as the Regional Tour Points at the same time.
  • Players can win Poolshooters Tour Points prize money as well as the Regional Tour Points prize money at the same time each tour season (January-October).
  • The top four players with the most tour points at the end of the NAPA Tour season will share 100% of the progressive prize pool with 1st place receiving 40%, 2nd place receiving 30%, 3rd place receiving 20% and 4th place receiving 10%.
  • Regional Tour Points only count towards "open" singles events and do not count towards any gender specific events.
